About Us
At Soil Systems, we are building a new way to return nutrients to the earth. We turn food waste into a peat-free, nutrient-rich soil improver designed for people who care about where their food comes from, how their gardens grow, and how their city treats its resources.
Our flagship product, Earth Shots, is made through a controlled fermentation process that preserves nutrients, boosts organic matter, and supports soil life from the moment it’s applied.
We combine practical science, regenerative principles, and a local loop: food waste → fermentation → nutrient-dense pellets → healthier soil, stronger plants, and fewer emissions. As we operate locally, our carbon footprint is a fraction of conventional composts and fertilisers.
Our Story
Working across hospitality, climate, sustainability, and horticulture, our founders saw the same pattern over and over again: mountains of fresh food waste being put into black bin bags and left to rot in landfill, nutrients lost, and soils becoming depleted. Meanwhile, gardeners and growers were searching for products that were genuinely good for the land, not just labelled as such.
So we started experimenting. Fermentation. Nutrient retention curves. Carbon fractions. Local supply chains. Early prototypes in our own gardens and borrowed kitchens (and a few over-enthusiastic microbes). Then we began seeing something exciting: consistently high nutrient levels, rich organic matter, and a product that combats climate change.
Today, Soil Systems partners with London restaurants, to turn their food waste (mountains of potato peelings, coffee grounds, carrot tops, etc.) into a high grade soil improver. Our aim is simple: Transform city food waste into the most nutrient-dense, soil-boosting product on the market, while keeping the process local, traceable, and science-led.
